Sparsely Connected Semilattice Associative Memories on Certain L-Fuzzy Sets

چکیده
In mathematical morphology (MM), images are viewed as L-fuzzy sets, where the symbol L stands for a complete lattice. In particular, fuzzy MM arises by considering L = [0, 1]. Mathematical morphology provides the theoretical basis for certain lattice computing models called morphological neural networks (MNNs) including morphological associative memories (MAMs) that are the focus of this paper. A closer look reveals that a MAM yields a mapping from one class of L-fuzzy sets (not necessarily representing images) to another. Note that for a complete lattice L the class of L-fuzzy sets is also a complete lattice. Apart from some excellent characteristics, classical MAM models also exhibit a major disadvantage, namely a very limited noise tolerance, due to the duality principle which represents an intrinsic property of MM on complete lattices. Therefore, we resort to the recent theory of MM on complete inf-semilattices as a framework for a sparsely connected associative memory that is capable of dealing with the computational requirements for storing multi-valued and largescale patterns. In this context, the patterns are given by L-fuzzy sets where L is a certain type of a conditionally complete lattice that can be used to construct an inf-semilattice. This approach yields different error correction capabilities than classical MAM models because MM on complete inf-semilattices is endowed with self-dual operators. We finish with some experimental results concerning the problem of storing and reconstructing gray-scale as well as color images.

Data Retrieval and Noise Reduction by Fuzzy Associative Memories
A novel theoretical background of fuzzy associative memories (FAM) is proposed. A framework of formal concept analysis is used for a new working theory of FAM. Two principal activities of FAM are formalized : data retrieval and noise reduction. It is shown that the problem of data retrieval is connected with solvability and eigen sets of a certain system of fuzzy relation equations. The differe...
متن کاملA general framework for fuzzy morphological associative memories
Fuzzy associative memories (FAMs) can be used as a powerful tool for implementing fuzzy rule-based systems. The insight that FAMs are closely related to mathematical morphology (MM) has recently led to the development of new fuzzy morphological associative memories (FMAMs), in particular implicative fuzzy associative memories (IFAMs). As the name FMAM indicates, these models belong to the class...
متن کاملSparsely Connected Autoassociative Fuzzy Implicative Memories for the Reconstruction of Large Gray-Scale Images
Autoassociative fuzzy implicative memories (AFIMs) are models that exhibit optimal absolute storage capacity and an excellent tolerance with respect to incomplete or eroded patterns. Thus, they can be effectively used for the reconstruction of gray-scale images. In practice, however, applications of AFIMs are confined to images of small size due to computational limitations. This paper introduc...

متن کاملOn the Recall Capability of Recurrent Exponential Fuzzy Associative Memories Based on Similarity Measures
Recurrent exponential fuzzy associative memories (RE-FAMs) are non-distributive memory models derived from the multivalued exponential recurrent associative memory (MERAM) of Chiueh and Tsai. A RE-FAM defines recursively a sequence of fuzzy sets obtained by a weighted average of the fundamental memories. In this paper, we show that the output of a single-step RE-FAM can be made as close as desi...
